rescue axolotl

so I just took in this axolotl from a family member I know the tank is too small I’m working on getting her a 40 breeder this is what she had when I got her. She had two hides and a bare bottom so right now we’re working on buffing up her tank and any cold or low light plant recommendations are very appreciated. any tips or tricks about axolotl’s are very much welcome I do care for fish, but I have never had an axolotl or anything amphibian type. Her water is cold, low lighting and fine sand, but since her care was so bad before like water changes were very rare so I wanna make sure that she’s ok and there’s nothing currently wrong with her and as far as I’m aware, this is a female, but please let me know if it’s a male. I actually can’t really tell the difference. currently, I’m feeding her nightcrawler worms every 2 to 3 days and supplementing with blood worms as treats and I’m thinking maybe some other type of worm as a treat but let me know what you guys feed your axolotls
