I ordered an onion. A fairly normal grocery item. Or so I thought.
My shopper messages me: “Yellow Jumbo Onions no barcode.” I said any big yellow onion was fine, because again… onion. He then tells me the app is asking him to scan it and there’s no barcode or QR code. I told him there should be a no-barcode option for produce. (I have shopped before… and also I know onions are able to be purchased haha)
He says: “There’s no option for that.”
So now I’m realizing I’m the first person on Instacart to order onions. Pretty exciting.
I told him to just cancel the onion, no worries.
Then somehow this turned into a second crisis where his phone died, the GPS was taking him in circles, and the app was apparently telling him to drive through a fence.
So now I’m onionless, giving street-by-street directions, and feeling personally responsible for both the barcode system and the gated road.
My husband had to type the responses because I needed both hands to get my jaw off the floor.
