CCCA

I been growing my hair for a while and after taking out 4 week braids out(A lesson learned) , had a spot. I was hoping it was traction related and it would grow back, but I was diagnosed with CCCA at a followup after my first steroid injection because of the location and lack of change in size. These pictures are current the same day about a week ago. I’m honestly wishfully maybe foolishly hoping this isn’t scarred already.

I had my second injection April 29. Been using clobetasol for about two weeks and minoxdil for 5 days.

If anyone has or had this experience, what was your journey like, were you misdiagnosed, what was restoration like, any information would be appreciated

CCCA Photos Update

Took some better photos today to add to my previous post. Some were taken outside with the sun as lighting some inside

I have CCCA was diagnosed on my second visit while receiving my second injection on april 29th. I’m currently on a topical steroid clobetasol that I started yesterday. I realized oil irritate my scalp like wild growth. I been using cecred drops for about a month now. Any insights and experiences with this would be appreciated

Just curious how this looks aesthetically. My hair is parted so the spot is exposed.

I’m on my second round of steroid injections and just started clobetasol today. My dermatologist told me about 50% of the affected area is shiny and glossy, so probably scarred, bummer. I’m going to ask her about the exact size of the spot at my next visit.

Some days it’s hard to tell what I’m dealing with because it looks different depending on how I part my hair. One day it looks oval, another day it looks more irregular. I’m still learning how to properly care for and understand my 4C hair, so I know I’ve been a bit ignorant about it. I didn’t even realize I had a scarring condition for about 2 years, but now I’m ready to actually deal with it properly

My derm brought up minoxidil, but I don’t want to use it. I don’t like the idea of the new hair falling out if stopped, so I’d rather stick with what I naturally have. Right now I’m doing the injections, just started the topical steroid, and I’ve been using Cecred drops daily since April 8th. First injection was March 25, 2026, and second was April 29th.

It’s just been confusing trying to track progress since the shape never looks consistent. Any insights or if anyone’s gone through something similar, feel free to share.
