My problematic gp66 has decided to die. It happened right after cleaning and doing some basic service. I initially used some older leftover minus pad 8 but I noticed overheating. Bought some new more expensive pads and decided to also clean my laptop with some IPA to get rid of all of the residue. I should have probably used k5 but that isn't what caused it to not post anymore. Of course I worked on it with all batteries completely disconnected like I usually do. The laptop does respond to power button but only if held for around 30-60 seconds. Power button led blinks 11 times. Did the usual ec reset stuff that people say but it still didn't turn on. Nothing gets too hot on mobo at idle and 5v and 3.3v rails are being generated fine. The cpu and gpu remain cold, including vrms. I didn't notice any alarming shorts. Also a bit about the history of this laptop, it has been repaired under warranty 3-4 times now. Every time it was repaired, it developed more severe problems within like 5-8 months. Sadly the warranty ended almost a year ago so I would have to pay quite a bit to get it fixed and then pray that it doesn't die again. Good thing is that I still have my ge62 which has outlasted this new one by around 6-8 years. Because I don't have any money to get new one right now or in near future, I would be very glad if somebody could help. Thanks!

So my gp66 now refuses to power on after repasting and cleaning. Only cleaned around the cpu and gpu area. I now noticed that the realtek alc274 codec chip gets quite hot, enough to make holding my finger on it uncomfortable. The laptop does turn on partially, white led flashes and stays on after holding power button for a while. The screen doesn't show anything nor do the fans spin. It just quietly whines. While checking I also noticed a dead cmos battery, tried feeding in 3v externally but that didn't help at all. Fun fact about this laptop is that it has been repaired under warranty around 4 times now. Even the service people weren't able to fix all of the problems I had with it. It sucks because the warranty ended almost a year ago and I don't have money for a new one. Has anyone experienced this issue with msi gp66 before, or have any advice on how to fix it? Thanks!
