Pineapple OFC Poker Strategy Pt 2: how 4 RPH vs 6 RPH players compare
In my last Pineapple OFC poker strategy post, I outlined the play-style that my superhuman AI used to get 6.5+ RPH. After that, I launched a website for players to play against that bot and wanted to share some analysis of 100k real player games.
If you haven’t played Pineapple OCP, it’s a row-by-row heads up poker battle where you build three poker hands simultaneously. Your bottom row must beat your middle row, and your middle row must beat your top; otherwise you foul. The core objective is to get Queens or better up top and make it to fantasy land (where you get all 14 cards on the next hand). I created a tutorial for new players (takes a few minutes to learn): www.upperhandpoker.com
Core Takeaway
The best players get to fantasy land twice as much, while only have a slightly better royalty per hand outside of fantasy land and nearly the same foul rate as average players. There’s so much value to being in fantasy land: players, on average, get roughly 3x more points per hand in fantasy land than outside of it.
Check out my first strategy post for some specific strategy rules for reaching fantasy land more. One that I see a lot is players going for KK or AA in the middle instead of usually putting those up top.
You can check out my first strategy post for more specifics on hands that you should be aiming for in the bottom/middle for reaching fantasy land at a higher rate.
