This is being the talk lately. Many companies are spamming with ads and whatnot it's come to a point it's irritating a lot now. Every time I check my phone, I'd have at least one sms from some company, I'm not exaggerating, over 10-15 messages. Sending BL messages did absolutely nothing except for some like PizzaHut, Popeyes and whatnot, they stopped bothering me. But everything else nahh, also starting to get worse with new ones, who is even leaking numbers everywhere, it's a violation no one is talking enough about. I'm irritated to a point that I want to switch my phone number altogether. Why I'm making this post is, I went to CrepeRunner 2 days ago, they asked my phone number when I wanted to place an order, I said I don't wanna share, and everyone looked strangely at me, like wtf, everyone really thinks it's a simple thing while it isn't. The cashier went to call a co-worker or manager I believe, which means this has never happened before. The manager said they needed the phone number to create a record for some reason I didn't understand really, either way, I denied. I bet this would happen at other places as well. What do you think about this? Am I the only one who's taking this seriously?

I have been restoring my iPhones from backups ever since the 3GS. Over the years, I have also jailbroken them several times. I am highly convinced that my phone is carrying over a decade's worth of legacy system files, cache, and junk that might be eating up my performance and storage.
I usually start fresh whenever I upgrade my MacBook, and I am planning to do the same with my iPhone, I want to know if it's a good idea? Back in the day, starting fresh meant losing everything except for notes and whatnot. However now, iCloud syncs with almost everything essential.
What I'll be doing is starting fresh on my new phone while keeping my old ones just in case.
What I think will automatically sync just by signing into iCloud:
- Messages, Call History, Contacts, Photos & Videos
- Health data, Passwords, and Wi-Fi passwords
- Notes, Reminders, and Files stored in the iCloud folder
- Apps that uses iCloud sync (like WhatsApp)
- Other apps like Google syncs directly with Google's servers
What I think I might have to set up manually which is not a big deal:
- Mail Accounts: Manually re-adding every email inbox.
- Customizations**:** Rebuilding my Home Screen layout, widgets, folders, alarms, and wallpapers.
- Accessories: Re-pairing Bluetooth devices (which I only have a couple anyway)
- Apple Watch: I'm not sure if the backup stays in iCloud or on my iPhone, but I wouldn't mind that.
I am ready to bite the bullet and do this to get a clean, snappy phone. I'm ready to lose data in games and whatnot. Banking apps, I can login. Am I forgetting anything else that will not carry over? Has anyone else done this with a phone carrying years of legacy backup baggage, and was it worth the hassle?
Didn't want to make a long post for a simple matter but it became one.
