Feeling bad on a long drive

Guys I’m having a really hard time. I have 5 hours left of this drive and my stomach is uneasy. It’s been uneasy since after we all ate zaxbys at 8:00pm last night. It’s 2:00am now. I’ve taken 2 Dramamine, but it’s not fully going away. I can’t tell if I’m just anxious about it and making it worse. Every time we stop I have to go in and use the bathroom. No diarrhea, but the first time was somewhat loose stool. I went just now and I think it was more normal. Im also not going much each time, but it could be the Dramamine?

I’m just so scared. Why is this happening? We all ate pretty much the same thing and nobody else feels bad. I don’t want to cause a scene or get to a point where I’m having to ask them to pull over or stop constantly. I’m trying to keep it together, but I don’t know what’s happening. I was fine all day until we ate and then I was super full and kinda uncomfortable from the fullness, but as time went on I become much more aware of how I was feeling and I just want to feel normal. I’m terrified.

I’ve always wondered what most “normal” (non-emetophobic) people do when they feel sick or KNOW they will be sick. I truly don’t understand.

I have a friend who was eating leftovers for lunch the other day and said “hm I’m not sure if this is still good or not… I guess we’ll find out!” She stopped eating at that point, but had eaten about half of it and then seemed completely unphased by the fact that she could end up with food poisoning or something?? It was so puzzling to me. I mean, I don’t expect people to panic to the extent that I do, but to not be phased at all seems so blissful.

My husband is one of those people that walks around with an upset stomach like it’s a headache. He’ll wake up, throw up, and then get ready for work and go about his day completely fine sometimes. He’s vocal about the fact that he doesn’t “like” to throw up, but he’s also one of those people that would rather get it over with than be nauseous, so he’ll go make himself throw up if he has to.

I think about this a lot, and it seems so freeing. People don’t know how good they have it. To not be consumed by this fear would genuinely be life changing for me. I can’t wrap my head around the idea of being so nonchalant about it.

I woke up just now feeling really hot and I’m not sure if I just made myself nervous or if it just took a second to hit me but I’m in the bathroom now shaking because I started to not feel well. It was initially just gas but now I’m really scared because I feel super uneasy and I can’t go to the bathroom like I’m in here and nothing is happening. I had such a great day and literally felt fine 3 hours ago when u went to sleep so I’m hoping it’s just my anxiety flaring up/ maybe i got too hot.

I know I’ll be fine but I’m so scared because my husband had something going on with his stomach the other day but I didn’t think it was a bug or anything. Now I’m not so sure.

NOT LOOKING FOR REASSURANCE. JUST OPINIONS/EXPERIENCES.

Okay so my husband woke up for work yesterday morning around 6:30 and ended up calling out for the day because he wasn’t feeling great. I went to work, but he told me he was having frequent bathroom trips and a couple of instances where he thought he might throw up but never actually did. (He’s a huge throw-upper over anything usually lol) I’m assuming he was having diarrhea but he never actually said it. He also didn’t have any other viral symptoms like: body aches, fever, flushing, or anything like that. He just said he didn’t feel good.

So this all started around 6:30am and from what I can tell, he was perfectly fine by 4:00pm or earlier in the day. He literally went out to eat tacos with a friend last night and had been able to eat all day so obviously he still had an appetite. He was also texting me and sending me videos of our pets and responding to work calls and such, so it doesn’t seem like he was feeling terrible.

I guess I’m just wondering if there’s such a thing as a short stomach bug? Like I said, he didn’t even have symptoms for more than 6 hours. HE refers to everything as “a bug or something” which can be a little bit anxiety inducing lol. Short stomach bug? Food poisoning? Random upset stomach for no reason?

We have suspected that he may have a stomach ulcer from experiences in the past, so I assumed it was probably related to that, but normally he just throws up and moves on with his day when it comes to that issue specifically. I don’t really think there’s a huge cause for concern here, but I thought I’d ask what you guys think!

Obviously I know that commenters cannot give serious medical advice. Just looking to hear people’s experiences/opinions.

We have suspected that he may have a stomach ulcer from experiences in the past, so I assumed it was probably related to that OR the fact that he ate some reheated rice for dinner last night and I know people have strong opinions about that. I don’t really think there’s cause for concern here, but I thought I’d ask what you guys think.

Another thing to add is that he will randomly wake up and throw up in the mornings, which we think is caused by a stomach ulcer or GERD or something like that. (Trust me I’ve tried to get him to go to the doctor but he refuses.) But when that happens he’ll just carry on and go to work like nothing happened. This time, he never threw up, just thought he might, and was just having to go to the bathroom, but felt bad enough to stay home. So it doesn’t seem like his normal stomach problems. Again, I just can’t imagine a bug would only last 6-8 hours (IF it was even that long) and have him feeling perfectly fine afterward.

Hey guys!

I had an extremely anxious day today and I was told hydroxyzine can help on days like this to calm me down and ground me a little bit. I came off of my lexapro at the end of last year, so I think I’m having some residual anxiety attacks from my nervous system trying to even itself out.

My concern is that I’ve never taken hydroxyzine before and I’m a little afraid of not knowing what it’s gonna make me feel like. For reference, I’m 5’6 150lbs and I don’t take any other prescription meds on a regular basis. Do you guys think a 25mg hydroxyzine is gonna knock me out or make me feel bad? I know it’s used to treat anxiety so it’s ironic that I’m worried about the possibility of it making me anxious lol. Just afraid of the unknown in this case I guess. I have a friend who takes it during the day sometimes so I can’t imagine it would sedate me the way Google says it will.

Thanks in advance!

Can anyone provide any sort of rationality for me? I’m not looking for reassurance, just rationality because I can’t be rational on my own right now.

I was fine on my entire hour drive to work and then while I was going into work I noticed a cold uneasy feeling in my stomach. Obviously I panicked a little and I went to the bathroom. Everything was normal. I’m kind of constipated so idk if that’s a factor in this or not. Anyway, after I went to the bathroom I thought I was fine but now it’s been an hour since then and I just feel uneasy and keep having to go to the bathroom. I’m not having d* or anything, but the consistency is definitely changing each time I go. (Sorry tmi)

I guess I’m just wondering, is there any real threat? Or am I making it up in my head? I can’t figure out what’s wrong I just feel super uneasy and I’m having waves where I need to go to the bathroom. I’m super tired today too which is making my anxiety worse because I’m thinking “am I tired because I have a virus or something?”

Any rationality is appreciated. M
