Dad died when I was one, fell down the stairs when he was drunk and did his skull in, I'm 26 yrs old now. Ik him through stories but one that has stuck with me is everytime he came home drunk he'd get on his knees and cry his eyes out, ask my mom and elder sister to pray for him he wanted to stop.
I'm borderline alcoholic rn, I am drunk in the house. My wife and daughter are sleeping in their rooms, my wife had a nightmare and i went to check on her she is snoring now peacefully, my daughter is excited for the weekend tomorrow,no nightmares there thank God. I have been jobless for a yr now I haven't told my wife yet,I find ways to provide, leave in the morning like every other man come back before 8:00pm. I pay rent, fees and anything else they need. I also take care of my aging mom and my wife's parents ,her younger sister just joined college I get the occasional call about her upkeep, my sister has two kids different dads all of them dead beats so I take care of them too.
If my dad was alive I'd hold his hand and tell him I understand , He did good. He was the eldest son of 10. Quit school to look after other people's livestock just so he could look after his siblings. Put himself through school and in the end had to join the army cuz he still had to support his siblings.
i used to judge him a while back but now I get it. There is only so much you can carry without looking for a crutch.so for anyone who got a dad out there an alcoholic, a fiend ,a fuckup, just call them ik they are doing everything they can to get better, to get back to you, atleast ik I would for my daughter
