I bought dualsense edge a year and a half ago for 180€ and after this time I can definitely say that’s not worth it, contrary to what people usually say on youtube or in other reviews.
The left analog drifts, battery lasts an hour on bluetooth (and i’ve always used it with cable, that’s absurd), front buttons creak and back buttons are looser than they were initially.
Ok, that’s “normal” usage, but i didn’t use it that much in this year, as I often played with mouse and keyboard. I've used it approximately 500 hours or even less.
But these are not the only problems, if it was for that i would still say it’s worth the money, in fact, as I said in the title, it’s HALF of a pro controller:
two back buttons are definitely not enough if you play games that need a lot of “inputs” like fortnite, for example, and that forces you to play half claw;
grips are horrible, i had to buy some other rubber ones because my hands were so sweaty while playing;
THE TRIGGER STOPS ARE NOT STOPPING ENOUGH, there is absolutely no sense in putting them if triggers stay that long - if someone wants to play with short triggers he probably wants them shorter than that, similar to a mouse click, because he’s PROBABLY (for sure i guess) playing competitive and not a story game, he doesn’t give shit about the length;
and finally the stick modules: ok, we can replace them, but whats the point of that? it’s a 240€ controller put some hall effect sticks or trms on that, but it’s obvious to me they want to make profit on people that already gave a ton of money to them (and they also give SIGNIFICANTLY less input than tmrs for example, this means you’re aiming worse overall)
Of course edge also has some positive points: it has a really premium feeling at the touch, and also it’s the only dualsense controller with 1000hz polling rate, and that’s the only reason I still haven’t changed it.
What am I doing now and why am I writing this: I’m thinking about partially solving this problems by myself - I’ll solder tmr analogs, put some clicky buttons on the front and r1 and l1, and, the most difficulta part, I’ll try to 3d print the F1-4 part inside the controller to make triggers stop sooner, but I don’t know where to find a model to print, so I’m asking yall if you know some website that has it.
