I'm a wildlife photographer looking for a lens to travel with in situations where I can only take one lens and one body.
I enjoy photographing snakes and frogs and such, so having a wide-angle lens that can do close focus is really useful, however I'd usually also carry something longer for birds and mammals.
The 12-200 would cover most of my needs, but I've heard it loses a lot of sharpness at the long end. If you've owned the lens, please let me know your experiences with it.
My alternatives are basically the 14-150 (this would be good, but the minimum focus distance is a bit too long), and the 12-100 f4 pro (I am concerned about the lack of reach, but is the 12-200 so bad at the long end that it's better to just crop?).
