this is the only way the show will thrive and survive.

okay i went into more detail in this post https://www,reddit.com/r/galifrey/comments/1t3s1ss/i_think_doctor_who_should_pull_a_twin_peak_the/ so read that if you want something more in detail.

but basically i think the show should do something simialr to what twin peaks the return did and be as anti-nostalgia as possible.

no classic villains[aside from the currents doctor final season or the final season of the current showrunners tenure.]

no classic companions.

no unit.

the campionian isnt a modern day earth women.

hell dont even have it set on earth.

be as different and deny as much nostalgia as possible.

the only things that are the same are the doctor and the tardis and even then the doctor should unique from other incarnations and have the tardis interior be different from other tardis interior.

this is the only way the show will thrive and survive.

I know it might be typecasting with Matthew Lilard also playing William Afton in the FNAF movie but i think he would fit toyman very well he 100% would nail that psychotic man-child toymaker vibe that toyman has.

My fan made Protomen title cards.

So I've made these by using the drawing feature on Google Docs it's okay if you think they're shit, just wanted to make these for fun.

so if you dont know Twin Peaks: The Return was a revival of the 1990 series thats about>!Dale cooper finally coming back from the back lodge but ends up basically in a weird dream like state, that being a personality called Dougie, and so it will take a bit for him to wake up out of it all the Bad Coop mr.c is running around with it asking the question on if Cooper will stop him!<

Okay, that's intentionally underselling because Twin Peaks: The Return is such a trip, but that's one of the plot details but one of the notable things about Twin Peaks: The Return is how very anti-nostalgia it was.

like it uses elements from the original series but subverts them or denies them like Audrey's dance being interrupted by a shooting or Bobby Briggs no longer being a drug dealing punk and is now a sherrif etc and is very anti-nostalgia in general with the few nostalgic moments being few and far between[like the "i am the FBI" moment] and even then you could argue they arent played straight.

i think Doctor Who should do something similar if they want the show to continue and thrive.

  • Don't include any classic villains like the Daleks, the master, the Cybermen, the Toymaker, Sutekh, the Rani, or any of them make only new villains and only use a classic in the current doctors final season or the showrunner's final season.
  • dont include any previous companions or even use UNIT avoid using them at all cost.
  • don't have the current companion be a modern day earth companion.
  • Don't have the setting be on Earth and instead be on a whole different planet.
  • Don't have the companion be a mdoern day earth women.
  • don't use any music from the previous show eras aside from the intro theme and only use new music.

The only thing that's the same is the doctor and the tardis, and even then the doctor should be unique from other incarnations.

Basically, don't have any nostalgia, be anti-nostalgia as possibe and be different from previous eras and be as new-friendly as possible if some people dont like then they can deal with it.

At least that's what i think others might feel differently but I feel thats the only way the show will thrive and survive.

Reposting since the mods thought I didn't put much effort into it and they're right so I'm gonna put more effort.

i think the best way to do a Superman game is to make it a visual novel type game since it would fix many of the issues people have, like Superman being too strong, the flying mechanics and other such issues]

it means you could also be a lot more creative with the game's story either each route being based on a specific era of Superman [The golden age, the silver age, the bronze age, etc.], with the villains in each route being the ones that appeared in said era.

or each route being a different version of Superman, like route 1 being a semi-traditional Superman, route 2 being based on the Last Son of Earth Elseworld and route 3 being an original Elseworld[like a Superman story in the style of the day the Earth stood still or something.]

it honestly seemed like a lot of people's problem discussing how a good Superman game could work is that they assume it should be like the Insomniac Spider-Man game or the Arkham batman games and whiles those games are overall amazing[though not without there issues lets ignore SSKTJL though] those games style dont fit superman at all and a more visual novel like style would fit Superman much better.

its like saying the best way to do a flash game would be to make it like the Insomniac Spider-Man games or the Arkham Batman games, when no doing a flash game in those styles would suck but doing a flash game in the style of a Sonic game [especially in the style of Sonic Frontiers] would work better.

a few other miscellaneous things [and this is assuming DC/WBD/paramount wouldn't force them].

  • Please don't cast A-list celebrities for the character; use actual VAs or actors with less experience, or both.
  • Keep the references to the wider DC universe to a minimum while references to Superman's mythos are fine lets keep the focus on Superman maybe if you go with each route being based of a specific Superman era you can have the routes progressively start to include wider dc stuff[like route 1 refencing only superman stuff route 2 including minor name drops and name droping of actual DC cities and then route 3 has multiple references to the wider dc unvierse but if we go with the elseworld idea no keep it only to superman references[and in last son of earths case remove all references to the wider dc unviverse since that story had a few.]

So yeah, hope you have a nice day.
