I (28F) am currently planning a wedding this fall with my fiance, (27M). We have been together for 8 years, 4 being long distance, and he is truly one of the best things that has happened to my life. He is caring, understanding, funny, and truly my best friend. We are planning a wedding for the fall and everything has been going pretty smoothly. Our goal for our wedding is just have a blast and for our guests to have a fun time. We like to party so that’s the vibe we are going for. We have hired an 8 piece band, a close up magician for cocktail hour, our best friend is DJing after the band, and then we are finishing the night with karaoke. My fiance and I have pretty much agreed on everything until this point…. He really wants to hire someone to dress up as Darth Vader and surprise everyone during the DJ set and dance with everyone. I laughed when he brought up the idea because I thought he was genuinely trying to be funny, well he was not. Here is some background… my fiance is a HUGE Star Wars fan. We are talking tattoos, decor in our house, and watching everything out there. Me? I’m not the biggest fan, but I obviously support his love for Star Wars, it’s just not for me. So I just don’t want Darth Vader at my wedding. Well now he is a little upset, saying it his wedding too (it is) and so I should accommodate his wants for the wedding and allow Darth Vader to be there. I told him I think it’s gimmicky and at the end of the day, it’s our fkin wedding. Am I overreacting for not wanting Darth Vader at my wedding?
