Hey everyone,
I’m trying to understand what’s going on with my cousin (30M). He used meth and other substances almost every week for years. His lifestyle was already pretty rough (bad nutrition, unstable life, etc.), and over time things got worse.
At one point he started acting very out of touch with reality — like going to random people’s houses and saying he was from intelligence services. After that, he ended up in prison. He recently got out.
Now the strange part:
When I see him, it feels like I’m talking to a completely different person.
- He used to be very aggressive and irritable. That’s completely gone.
- Now he’s extremely soft, almost childlike, very affectionate.
- He acts overly innocent in a way that doesn’t feel natural.
- Sometimes he says odd things like “I’ll send you signals” and asks me to close my eyes.
- He randomly laughs to himself.
He’s currently functioning in daily life (even working/selling stuff at a shop), but mentally something feels off.
I’m confused because on the surface he seems “better” (calmer, kinder), but at the same time his behavior and thinking don’t seem normal at all.
Has anyone seen something like this after long-term meth use?
Could this be some kind of lasting brain damage, psychosis, or personality change?
Not looking for a diagnosis, just trying to understand if others have seen similar cases.
Thanks.
His big brother also same with him . They were drug-addict and ended up in same place …
