I have a Tymo Ionic Straightener. I've had it for a couple years. My tween now uses it everyday. Between the two of us and all the heat protectant products, it started to have that 'burnt' smell. I read that to clean it, use a soft toothbrush (damp, not wet) to get in between the 'bristles'. That was great but the toothbrush bristles were not long enough to hit the base of the straightener. Then I started using tooth plackers. I started with the silicon ones to loosen any gunk and hair. Then I went in with the twisty bristly ones that have a wire in the middle. Those really got the gunk out between the straightener. The picture below is all the gunk the spiral plackers pulled out after I had cleaned it with a toothbrush (I had cleaned the sink after the toothbrush cleaning so this is all placker cleanup). If you're looking to clean your Tymo Ionic straightener, get some teeth plackers!
