Would it make sense to say that archons are similar to demons? If not then what would they be more aptly labeled?

David Icke certainly is a controversial character, but I first heard the concept of the archons from him. Definitely it had a different essece behind it but it still brought me to learn and expand my search eventually leading me here. So I guess my question is "are the archons David Icke mentions the same ones that are mentioned in Gnosticism and further more, is David actually a Gnostic?"

I was curious, many systems in the world point to us being one with the divine source or at least a part/extension of it. But what systems say we are already in the divine experience and are unaware of it? Like we are always in the heavenly realm just without the awareness of it, I had an experience once that made me feel as if I was "already there" and just didn't fully know it. Not sure if I am making sense but was curious to see if anyone else resonated with this.
