Thinking of getting the USB-C Magic Keyboard

Thinking about grabbing the USB-C Magic Keyboard since I see them around for a better price lately, but I'm really on the fence. I do a lot of typing and I'm worried the keys are too shallow compared to a mechanical board. Also, for those who use it, is Touch ID basically mandatory?
