Tried removing old defunct landline phone number. PayPal has both my mobile and my old "home" number listed as "primary". It only allows users to "change", not to "remove" or "delete" a primary phone number. In order to "change" the number, user must first enter a new phone number. My only phone is my cellphone/mobile, which is already entered, so I try replacing the old, defunct "home" number with my one and only "mobile" number. I get a pop up window that says I can't do this because the mobile number is already listed. So therefore, there's no way to remove the old, defunct phone number, which Bell has likely already issued to a new customer.

This old phone number is listed on a recent purchase invoice from an item I ordered online. If that company needs to reach me, they may connect to someone else who has now been issued this number. I tried the PayPal 'contact' which forces user to speak to automated text/chat window. I explained the issue, it sent me to the Help article that explains that user must enter a new phone number in order to remove an old number ... which doesn't work in my case because I do not have a new 'landline/home" phone anymore.

I finally connected to a Customer Service Agent via the chat window. They sent me a "security code" but the security code text says NOT to give this number to ANYONE! ... so it's a "catch 22" situation. I do not want to give some random person in a Call Centre in some random country my "security code" sent to my cellphone ... there's no way of knowing who they are, whether they've been properly vetted ... whether they might moonlight as a Call Centre scammer outside this PayPal message centre gig ... so now my old phone number remains in my file, a number that is still showing up on invoices for products I order online ... a number that has most likely been reassigned to a new Bell customer. It is absurd that PayPal's website doesn't allow customers to simply "remove" or "delete" an old phone number without forcing them to enter a new number, when they already have my mobile number as a "primary" number!
