Jeffries needs a new comms team

I want our democrats to be bold and fight for us, but we need to be careful that statements can’t be used to claim democrats support cheating in elections.

I saw this Hakeem Jeffries quote in a maga post about replacing the Virginia Supreme Court that came across my Facebook. I assumed it was taken out of context or at least an off the cuff statement, but then I found it in an official statement/press release on his website! If Trump said something like that (he pretty much has), we would all point to it as more evidence they were planning to rig the election in some way. Now republicans have a key democratic leader saying we will win at any cost.

“No matter what it takes, House Democrats will win in November so we can help rescue this nation from the extremism being unleashed by Donald Trump and Republicans.”

I understand the desire to just replace judges but if they get rid of their whole court, replace it with loyalists, and then use that to lock in a democratic majority? It won’t matter than the original referendum was done with a vote, any democrat elected in Virginia will always be treated as illegitimate and Speaker Johnson will fight tooth and nail not to swear them in. It’s not fair that red states get to do unethical things without consequences but their news is much better at attacking Dems and making sure everyone knows the key talking points.

Chicken and Rice Soup

I think the Chicken and Rice soup is my favorite meal right now! I order a couple every time it shows up but I wish I could order it more often. So good and comforting!

What are your favorite meals that you are always excited to see?

If states are going to redistrict be all red districts, maybe the play needs to be campaigns encouraging democrats to switch their registrations and vote in the Republican primaries to try to get non-MAGA candidates who might be more willing to vote for pro-democracy laws. It might be wishful thinking but if democratic votes will be disenfranchised, we might as well use them strategically.

I’m in TX and this was the first Democrat primary I’ve voted in because I wanted to vote for Talarico, but most years I make the same calculation Tim did when he voted for Nikki Haley. In TX you just get to choose at the primary and don’t have to register for one party or the other.
