I like the controller more than reviews told me I would

Reviews had a few meh reactions to the controller and I was a little scared of buying into the hype and ending up disappointed. I don't agree with 99% of the negative or meh review reactions. I'm not a premium top shelf controller user though so maybe I have a different perspective coming from an 8bitdo.

I'm really impressed with the gyro function. I wasn't expecting much from it but it's responsive, very natural feeling, and highly customizable. I want to find a game that is designed around it now for that new depth of gameplay. The sticks are smooooooth and enjoyable to use. The puck is amazing tech. I really love that part and I'm excited for a 3D print holder.

I think the one thing that is true from reviews is that the customization options are pretty overwhelming at first. As a first time stream controller user, there is a lot to learn on the software side before it feels natural.

I think Valve nailed their vision of being able start your PC and not touch the mouse. This is a really neat controller / mouse cross over and I can see it being a big experience boost with the Steam Machine setup. I think thats the main point reviews missed. It's not about competing with premium controllers, it's about changing the experience with PC gaming and it does that.

It blew my expectations out of the water. I feel like this will be my last controller I ever want. Well done Valve.

Steam Controller Support

Playing POE2 with a controller feels pretty good. I'm a mouse and keyboard diehard but really got into a controller for the game. The steam controller is almost a dream come true for POE2 with it's quick gyro switch over to a mouse function except...the game goes into exclusive controller mode so it 1/2 works.

It feels so good to be able to mouse over items and skill nodes with a controller. Menu support for a mouse while using a controller would be phenomenal. I really hope their dev team plays with the steam controller and changes that feature to let it shine.
