This is my first time trying to grow JMs from seed and I’m just blown away by how different from one another they all are. These seedlings all came from the same tree, my parents’ “Goshiki Shidare”, shown in the last photo, and were all collected on the same day, Halloween 2025. Hence the “HW” on the tags. And yet they’re all so varied. Reds, oranges, yellows, greens, bronze. Lace leaf, broadleaf, double cotyledons, all sorts of things going on.

I’m definitely looking forward to watching these little guys grow. Can’t wait to see what sorts of color changes they all go through

Spuds, Brighton, and West Ham are our final three matches. It really is in our hands now

It looks like a double set of buds as well, it’ll be very interesting to see how this little guy develops.

Probably just a random mutation, that’s the best explanation I can find

Sekka yatsubusa, iijima sunago, pink filigree, goshiki shidare, and kagiri nishiki are all blooming like crazy! Imo the flowers are a really under appreciated part of Japanese maples’ beauty
