Found this little guy at the flea this morn! Knew it was a spokeshave (had no idea what the wings were for. My guess was something to do with chair legs? -Close!) Discovered it's a #65 chamfer plane. Brought it home and am working on typing it.
I've narrowed it down to the "J" logo, which was 1874-1884 for bench irons and 1904 for block irons (Do the spokeshave logos usually go along w/ the block iron dating?). It also has "B" casting marks on the body, wings, and cap iron.
Anyone have any other insight on appx year of production? I found the 51/151 type-study, but there doesn't seem to be much (if any) info about the 65's out there?
