So I booked a two night stay at an IC in Asia.
The first night was booked with cash at a room just below the suite level with a good view on a higher floor and the 2nd was booked via points and was classified under the generic premium room category.
I am an IHG Ambassador/platinum member and so they offered me an upgrade on the paid room to a JR suite and for the 2nd night they refuse to upgrade anything at all because it was booked via points even though as a platinum member I should be eligible for an upgrade if there is availability (which there is based on the inventory 1 month out).
Their 2nd proposal was they could use up my upgrade from being an ambassador on my 2nd night instead so that I can be in the same room both nights but not in a suite.
Are they trying to trick me out of my upgrades? I think I would be better off just waiting till a few days prior to my check-in to see if I can get an upgrade to a suite off my platinum status for my points redemption and then getting an auto upgrade with my ambassador status or cash compensation for not giving me an upgrade for my paid night?
