Restarted my Reddit account recently. Got some dumb advice from my dad (I know he means well), but I just need to get some other opinions from older adults.

I’m 25 and graduated college in 2023. I’m working a part time office job while doing random side hustles to get me by (knitting, dog walking, pet sitting, babysitting).

My dad, on the other hand, has worked blue collar his entire life and hasn’t worked an office/corporate position (like the one I’m doing now).

My dad’s out here saying that I should hint to my current bosses that I’m leaving. I personally think it’s dumb; no matter how often I apply for jobs, I can’t even get interviews.

Some peers around my age in my area are unemployed, saying that I’m lucky to have any employment at all. Heck, my childhood best friend’s dad is a lawyer with decades of experience, and even he had trouble finding a new job after layoffs hit his last position.

Is my dad right? Should I be hinting to my bosses that I’m considering leaving?
