Hi everyone! I just wanted to check as I couldn’t find anything online similar to my case. I was moving my mattress and the cover got caught on my bedroom door strike plate. As a result, the cover ripped slightly, and now there is a small tear and the filling is starting to poke out. I’ve included a picture for everyone’s reference.

Based on my research, it says that this mattress may have fiberglass, so you can imagine I have started to panic. I did all the checks, under the flashlight, checked my skin religiously, and didn’t see anything that resembled fiberglass. I taped over the hole with a ton of packing tape (no duct tape in the house currently). Based on the pictures, do you think this mattress is safe to continue using? I checked the mattress law tag and I didn’t see any fiberglass, glass wool, or glass fiber mentioned in the filling materials.

I believe i took all the necessary precautions, but my paranoia is getting the better of me. The filling is slightly sparkly/shimmering, but my understanding is that other filling materials may also be like this. I picked up one strand and it was curly/flexible, and didn’t seem brittle like my research suggests fiberglass is.

Apologies, this is a super long winded post all to ask: is this mattress safe to use? Should I get a new mattress? 😭 I don’t see anything fiberglass around, but am I opening myself up to a potential disaster by continuing to use this mattress?

Thank you so much everyone in advance!!

Hi everyone! Going to be visiting Kauai in less than 2 months, and we’re so excited!! I had a question for those that have done similar activities. A high level itinerary is below and wanted to get some feedback and advice. We’ll be staying on the south shore.

Saturday: flight arrives in afternoon (chill day, get rental car, check in, explore nearby beaches and resort)

Sunday: Waimea canyon - drive to lookouts, maybe some light hiking?

Monday: napali coast boat tour in the AM, keep PM relatively open

Tuesday: north shore exploration (hanalei bay, queens bath potentially if safe, tunnels (?), hideaway (?))

Wednesday: Haena state park — hike the Kalalau trail to Hanakapi’ai falls in the morning and visit ke’e beach afterwards

Thursday: chill, explore south shore beaches, botanical garden perhaps?

Friday: flight departs at 1pm, so not too much time in the AM

My question is mainly around Tuesday and Wednesday and the big hike to Hanakapi’ai falls. Is it better to try to get a reservation on Tuesday, and do the north shore exploration day on Wednesday/thursday? Or should I keep the current plan as is? If anyone has had a similar itinerary in the past, what have you done? Thank you so much!
