Demon idea - Virulent
Yep, yet another demon idea. I seem to remember some ideas about the demon not killing, or "killing in secret", and thought I'd make up my own spin on it.
Virulent - Each Night* pick a player. Any good player who has been picked by a Virulent may count as poisoned. Game ends when the number of living players minus day count ≤ 3
The idea is the Virulent doesn't kill players, but makes them unreliable. I didn't want to just make them poisoned, as sometimes a slayer killing a recluse can still be beneficial, so mechanical effects should still have a chance of working if the ST thinks it helps the evil team. I also wanted to effect to stick around even if the current demon changed or moved, hence the wording.
I had played with the idea of making abilities work arbitrarily, so a Slayer might kill any target, or a Huntsman guessing wrong might turn anyone they picked into a different character. But not sure I could explain that in a short ability text.
While the Virulent doesn't kill, the game ends as if they had. This does cause issues with a Virulent being brought into the game, so would either need a Jinx or extra wording to have a "virus count" that adds to the dead count for game end conditions. My initial thought was to announce how many "infected" players there were, so the good team has an idea what is going on and how long they have left.
Could this be a viable idea for a demon? Better wording for the effect?
