MK8 owners, what tyres you putting on in this economy?

I’m usually running Michelin Pilot Sport’s but the fronts are right on the edge now. Checking prices, I don’t fancy paying £200+ per corner. So I’m looking for something that’ll land softer when it hits my wallet but is of course safe and keeps the car nimble. Any recs?

I’m a private tenant in the UK, semi-rural with lots of nature in my immediate area. I’m a ground floor flat in an older building split into two blocks, separated by a car park.

For the past 2+ months I’ve been hearing a fast, loud animal in the wall/ceiling cavities (stud walls and above plasterboard ceiling with downlights). It’s loud enough to wake me and is seriously affecting my sleep. Below is what’s happened so far.

Timeline:

Feb: Frequent noises. Reported. Pest control found hole at base of exterior wall, placed poison bait.

Activity increased (could hear it moving/eating bait), then stopped. Hole sealed.

April: Noise returned. Now at all times of day, sounds like movement through walls/ceiling.

Pest control revisited, but activity ongoing.

Recently heard noise outside followed immediately by activity inside (incl. en-suite).

I’ve never found any physical evidence such as droppings, fur, or gnaw marks so I can’t confirm if they’ve entered the interior. But I’ve heard from other tenants that there’s a known issue.

At this point I’m exhausted and honestly on edge. What could this be, and what should I be pushing for next as a private tenant? Honestly the letting agent really doesn’t seem to care. Thank you for any help.
