Working through George B. Bridgman’s “Constructive Anatomy” by studying the whole book and doing copies of every page… working on lots of fundamentals all at once and trying to stretch my mileage as far as possible! Working with ballpoint pen on a Canson XL multimedia sketchbook 5.5 x 8.5 inch

Hey folks,

Returning to art after a very very long time. The last time I worked through an art instructional text book, it was in a class with an instructor. This time around, I’ve got a few books but no instructor.

Am I supposed to copy each page and annotate the pages? My assumption is that I copy the book in order, drill the pages a few times and then apply the concept to a drawing from imagination, while keeping the concept I just finished in mind.

Here’s the books I’m working through, if that helps:

Constructive Anatomy - George Brant Bridgman

Complete Guide to Life Drawing - Gottfried Bammes

FORCE: Dynamic Life Drawing (10th Anniversary Edition) - Mike Mattesi

I know it’s a very generic list save for the fact I’m not going through Loomis (again) lol

I’m also thinking of picking up that Chinese anatomy book that’s been floating around on the net recently, the ISBN is 978-7115577719 and the title roughly translates to “Specialized Training in Animation Human Anatomy Representation Techniques”

Yeah essentially I’m just trying to figure out how to tackle this. I’m used to copying page by page but if there’s something else I should be considering or a better method for this let me know!

Thanks all! :)

Also not pictured cause I wasn’t sure it fit the sub rules: MARTYR! by Kaveh Akbar. Read it. Such devastating prose.

Also not pictured but absolutely worth your time: The Hole by Hiroko Oyamada! Such a liminal novel. Saying anything about it is saying too much about it, go read it! Quick and beautiful!

All of these are great, Walking Practice by Dolki Min is possibly one of the most hilariously vulgar body horror novels I’ve ever read!

Event Factory by Renee Gladman is also so thoroughly unique, there is truly nothing else like it. Read it if you like experimental formats!

Anybody else have any “lesser known” weird girl lit?
