I'm actually in doubt which one I like more, even though I only used a single color. What do you think and why?

Why do I feel like I suddenly suck

Just wondering if anyone else goes through this or if its just a me thing. But like lately I feel like I suddenly suck at drawing. I worked so hard to learn and get to the point artistically where I am. But suddenly everything I put on paper its like my hands don't know anything, and its so frustrating... I have spent so long studying, worked so hard to get to where I am, draw daily, and yet suddenly everything I put on paper is trash. How do I get past this??

I don’t know how to finish this drawing, 2nd slide is the reference.

I feel so lost, it took so long to get to this point. Just trying to draw things accurate to the reference is so hard. And I don’t know how I would begin to even draw the clothes, detail the hair, and color it. I don’t even know how to practice these things or what to do. Any Tips?

Learning to Sketch Recs

I’m wondering does anyone have a nice recommendation of a book that inspired them to sketch rather than showed them exactly how to draw a flower btw?

I am also interested in knowing if anyone has a link to a pdf of any useful books they used?

Any help much appreciated 👩‍🎨

Drawing Challenge Number 32: Wings (Read the rules!) - #W2DTogether

Hi everyone! 🙂

Are you ready for the 32nd #W2DTogether drawing challenge?

(If you are new here and would like to know more about this challenge, you can take a look at these 2 posts (post 1, post 2) that explain everything.)

-----------

Now, let’s get started!

This week, we’re focusing on something really fun… wings.

Your task is simple:

Draw wings. That’s it. But the way you approach it is completely up to you.

You can draw a single wing, or fill an entire page with multiple wings as a study. You can go realistic… or completely imaginative.

Think about it this way:

Wings are not just shapes. They have structure, rhythm, movement. Whether it’s feathers, skin, or something fictional, they all follow a certain logic. And once you start noticing it, your drawings improve fast.

What You Can Draw

You have full freedom here:

  • Real wings from animals like birds, bats, insects
  • Fantasy wings like angels, dragons, demons
  • Stylized wings, simplified or exaggerated
  • Wings in motion or at rest
  • A full character with wings or just the wings themselves

You can keep it as a clean study, or turn it into a full piece.

References

You can:

  • Copy one of the 13 references provided
  • Use them as inspiration
  • Or find your own references

No pressure to be original. Studying is just as valuable.

----------

Rules

  • Must be YOUR drawing
  • Drawings only (pencil, pen, colored pencils, markers, or digital drawing tools)
  • No paintings
  • No AI art
  • All skill levels welcome: beginners, intermediates, experts
  • You must share AT LEAST ONE drawing
  • To be part of the competition, your drawing MUST be posted in the comments of this thread. (If you’d like, you can also make a separate post in the subreddit using the #W2DTogether flair, but the official entry needs to be here in the comments if you want it reviewed.)

How We Pick the Winner

After one week, we’ll hold a community vote to decide which drawing best captures the theme. The winner will be showcased in the sub with their artwork.

If the winner shares an art link (Instagram, portfolio, site, etc.), we’ll also include it so they can get recognition and maybe even new followers.

Time Frame

This challenge is timeless. You can participate anytime, even years later.

Review Date:
For community feedback, we’ll gather and review all submissions on Sunday, 26 April 2026 so make sure to post your entry before 4:00 PM UTC that date. Drawings posted before that date will be part of the review session.

Note: If you are new here, you can check out last week's challenge here or see all the challenges collected here

most recent digital style study vs my first

i'm a big fan of tomio ogata's art style, and an even bigger fan of devil may cry. picked up a pencil seriously for the first time about 5 months ago. got my first iPad and started fiddling with Procreate about 5 weeks ago.

i don't have a lot of time to practice between work, life, and family, so honestly i bounce between drawabox, youtube tutorials, books, and just drawing what appeals to me visually

second pic is rough and messy. sketching and shading all done on one layer with brushes i didn't really like because i had no idea what I was doing with Procreate. i also have a bad habit of trying to draw detailed immediately.

first pic was completed last night — skull layer, sketch, cleaned up lineart, details, and shading all in individual layers. it was a struggle in patience to see it all come together. i still suck at anatomy (hence why i stopped at the neck, lol) but anyway i'm pretty proud of the progress

Feminine head sketches progress

Note to future self: this is about six months of progress. Methods include loomis etc but eventually (04-2026) direct ink to paper without any sketches upfront.

Also note to future self: keep at it!
