For reference this is a non assembly line factory job essentially. Now I didn't really know this going into this company but the actual departments are very loose with what work you're actually doing. Like you could be in department 'B' and being doing 20 different tasks depending on what needs to be done. That being said the vast majority of employees only do one specific task like heavy assembly or wiring, panel wiring etc. and just get to sit at there respective spot day in and day out. I think from being overly agreeable I've been put into a position as kind of a floater. I know and am competent at like what would be like 10 different jobs so I'm getting moved around constantly without any real permanent position like everyone else. Also my workplace is unionized and this isn't a seniority thing because I've been there 4 years and people who've been there less time than me have work positions I'd love to have permanently. But recently I keep getting put into the back making skids which I hate. When I got hired my resume was basically all wiring experience with a electrical engineering technician degree and now I'm in the back making skids. They recently tried to move a problem employee back there and he basically just refused and ran to HR and didn't get punished and doesn't have to do it. I'm wondering how I can get myself into a more permanent job I actually want without making some big scene.
