Caught my girlfriend cheating
Hi, just want to sort of get it all out and hope there's people to talk to.
I'm 32yo m in the UK. I've been with my girlfriend for near a year now and it was the most unbelievable relationship for so long. A few times she'd mentioned one day in the future involving other people in about relationship and had asked if I'd ever be interested in an open one. I said I didn't think so and she said she thought she might be much later on. But she insisted she was happy with me and wasn't looking for anything else.
Well earlier this year she went travelling in the US for 5 weeks. While there she stayed in the same town as he ex but she assured me there had been no contact between them and she'd never even talk to him again. I flew out to meet her in NY for five days and she seemed distant. When we got home she kept getting more and more distant. But also booked a holiday with me and was excited about looking for houses together.
A few weeks later we went to a gig on Day and stayed over in a hotel. It was the best evening we'd had together for ages but in the morning as she was in the shower her phone went off on her pillow next to me. I saw the message and immediately unlocked her phone to read it. I know it's a bad thing to do but I knew what I saw straight away. Her ex was texting her. It was very sexual. Shed sent him a nude picture last night just after we'd had sex. She'd been doing it since New York. They were texting constantly it seemed and were planning on meeting up soon for a steamy weekend together. She was literally only staying with me as they both got a thrill from the act of cheating.
Safe to say that was the worst morning of my life. She barely said a word to me when I confronted her. Insists she loves me and the affair was just for pure sexual thrills and she doesn't want to end it with me. But clearly its done. But I've barely moved out of my bed for three days now. I can't understand how people would ever do this to someone they supposedly love.
Has anyone ever had an experience like this or is my girlfriend just the devil?
