My 4.5 year old has been congested/coughing for almost 2 weeks now. Last week his teacher mentioned he might be getting sick or fighting something. He was a bit slow last week and just coughing/congested. He got his little sibling sick too and she started having low fever on Saturday and it escalated on Monday having fever/sick till today. On Monday night, my 4 year old was playing and said his head felt heavy and was hot. He did have a low grade fever on Monday night. Tuesday he woke up and was normal all day and went to school. Wednesday normal but now at night, he has a fever again. It was around 101.6F. I thought he was getting better over the weekend. Is it normal or weird to get random fevers at night after being normal all day? He seemed to be getting better but now I’m wondering if he caught something from sibling or his cold has evolved. I have an upcoming appt to check his lungs because I’m scared of serious illnesses like puemonia. I might just be overthinking but it’s weird that he got fever 2 days apart after being seemingly normal and active.
