102 Years of "La Cumparsita": The original 1924 Carlos Gardel vocal version restored in Super Stereo 2026.

I’ve just finished a manual restoration of the historic December 1924 Odeon master. By using a 4-track hybrid model, I’ve isolated Gardel’s legendary voice to let it breathe in a wide Super Stereo soundstage. I’ve avoided aggressive AI filters to keep the authentic 1924 transients sharp and clear.

I am exited to hear your thoughs :)

I’ve spent several hours of work in Audacity to restore this historic 1919 Victor Red Seal master.

A note on the sound: I’ve made a conscious choice to leave some of the original surface hiss and crackle intact. I found that a more aggressive cleaning took the soul out of Heifetz's violin, making it sound muffled—like it was playing inside a tin can underwater. I’d much rather preserve the raw transients and the 'silver' in his 107-year-old tone than have a clinical, dead silence.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this balance!

Most people know Jimmy Durante for his voice and comedy, but in 1923, he was a "red-hot" jazz pianist. Today, I’m releasing a manual restoration of his original composition "I Ain't Never Had Nobody Crazy Over Me."

I've worked manually in Audacity to separate the rhythmic piano, Miff Mole's trombone, and Phil Napoleon's cornet from the noise of the old 78rpm recording. No aggressive AI filters – just Hi-Fi work to preserve the authentic soul of this 103-year-old session.

For my label Good Gold Records, I’ve worked on the June 4, 1919 master of Dvořák’s "Humoresque."

By using a 3-track manual separation, I’ve pulled the harp and the "hidden" piano out of the noise floor to let them breathe alongside Kreisler’s golden violin tone. I’ve kept some of the original patina to ensure the transients remain sharp and honest.

I’ve just finished a manual restoration of Fritz Kreisler's legendary 1919 Victor master. This is a unique trio session with Francis J. Lapitino on harp and Vincent Sullivan on piano.

The Challenge: In these 100-year-old acoustic recordings, the piano is often buried. Following a great discussion here about "direct-to-disc" transients, I’ve worked frame-by-frame in Audacity to separate the instruments without muffling the sound. No AI samples - just the raw, authentic 1919 energy in a modern 24-bit soundstage.

For my label Good Gold Records, I’ve worked on this 103-year-old acoustic master. The goal was to separate the reed section (Hawkins and Redman) from the brass using a 3-track manual process.

I’ve kept the original energy and some natural shellac patina to avoid the "underwater" sound of modern AI filters. It’s likely never sounded clearer.

I'm excited to share my latest restoration of a historic New York session from September 13, 1923.

This is a unique chance to hear a teenage Coleman Hawkins already shaping the future of the tenor sax. I’ve manually restored this Columbia master in Audacity to move the band out of the acoustic "box" and into a wide Super Stereo soundstage. No aggressive AI filters—just careful work to preserve the raw transients of 1923.
