My old phone stopped working right before an important trip, so I decided to buy a temporary cheap-y phone for an "easy fix", or not.

The samsung is unlocked and my SIM card is being recognized by the phone, when I go to settings, I see it on there, but it is not using data. The option to turn on mobile data or roaming data is greyed out. I have already tried resetting the network connection and the phone itself. Nothing. I went to my store, but they said I have to be put on the authorized user list...just got in contact with my parents (who are the authorized users) but it will be a second before they are able to add me. Is there anything else at all I can try? Did I somehow buy an incompatible phone?
