I've been struggling with brittle hair and constant shedding for months. I tried masks, oils, protein treatments but nothing worked. The improvement would last maybe two days after wash day, then back to square one.

I went down a rabbit hole and learned that the hair has a barrier, just like skin does. And apparently when it gets disrupted, from harsh shampoos, over-washing, or aggressive clarifying,  it can trigger inflammation that causes hair loss.

I also came across something about ceramides moving into haircare. I always thought ceramides were a skincare thing, but apparently the cuticle scales in your hair are held together by a lipid layer and ceramides help rebuild it when it breaks down from heat, color, or chemical treatments.

Has anyone used any ceramide hair treatments or products? Has focusing on your hair barrier made a difference for you?
Which ceramide/hair barrier products are people using?

I would love to know what worked
