Looking for new rap that fits my taste
Gonna be pretty detailed here, apologize in advance.
So I had been a huge fan of rap for nearly two decades, but this past year or two I’ve been more drawn to indie rock like Mac Demarco and shit. Indie started making me feel down and sort of depressed recently though. I’ve put down my guitar and I’m going back to fl studio. A lot of rap was starting to sound the same to me before I strayed away from it. I’m hoping there’s some newer rappers that haven’t hit the mainstream yet I might like that yall could put me on to, or new albums even that I’d like. Right now I’ve just been listening to Zay’s new album on repeat. Much prefer it to THIB, I’m a fan of all of Zay’s work but I felt that it was a level below his other three studio albums.

-Freddie Gibbs
-Kenny mason
-Smino
-JID
-Saba
-Older Danny brown, like xxx
-Denzel curry, especially imperial
-Old Joey Bada$$, like 1999 and those mixtapes
-Old jazz cartier, like hotel paranoia and that tape that had new religion on it
-Mac miller, especially faces
-Love a lot of JPEG Mafia’s production but I hate his lyrics. It’s not even that he’s a bad writer he just has views and ideas I don’t relate to at all. He seems like an ass.

Some newish artists I listened to that I am somewhat a fan of, that I assume will be recommended if I don’t mention:
- Mach-homme? Not sure the spelling
- Paris Texas, pretty hit or miss for me. Either really dig their music or not a fan at all
- boldly james(although he started to bore me pretty quick, great lyricist but a one trick pony, sonically)
Appreciate you if you’ve made it this far. I really dig trip hop inspired shit, melodic baselines, gritty beats, and heartfelt lyricism.
