I need advice. Did he really change and should I give him another chance?

So we were together for 4 years and broke up about 3 weeks ago. I tried everything I could to make this work. Changed myself, learned not to question everything, expected less and less from him. Basically I was the only giver in the relationship. He never understood what was wrong with him and didn’t want to change himself at all. So eventually I gave up trying to make him understand. But later I realized that it’s impossible to be in a toxic relationship like this. I was slowly falling out of love.

We had some on and off conversations about how it was getting impossible for me to continue this relationship. He didn’t even say that he’d try to change to make this work. He just said he had realized the whole thing and wanted me to move on for a better future. We had an emotional conversation on the last day and broke up.

After 3 weeks from that, he suddenly called me and said how he was wrong this whole time and wanted to make this work. I politely rejected him because I had already started moving on and didn’t want to go back to square one. I even said that I didn’t love him like before anymore. But he was being stubborn and said that he doesn’t care about that because he’s gonna make me fall in love with him again. He’s gonna regret forever if he doesn’t get a chance to change. He also said that he has realized that he can’t live without me and lost that only person that was close to him. He was acting and talking like a crazy person. I felt kind of uncomfortable because I’ve never seen him talk like this.

What should I do? Is he really gonna change? Or is it only gonna be temporary?
