I sent my Glock 45 Gen 5 slide off to Wager Machine via UPS for an optic cut. It was just the stripped slide packaged securely in a box, and I declared $500 insurance on the shipment. About a week later, I got a UPS notification saying the package was being “returned to sender” with the reason listed as “recipient refused item,” which didn’t make sense to me.

I reached out to Nate at Wager Machine Works via email and he responded saying: “If I recall this package, the guy brought it in but the box was damaged and ripped open with nothing in it. In cases like that we just send it back with UPS so you get the package back and can start the claim process.”

I then called UPS and opened a claim. They told me it would take 1–5 business days to hear back. The damaged/ripped open box (without my slide inside) is scheduled to be delivered back to me tomorrow.

So right now I’m basically waiting to receive an empty, damaged box and going through the UPS claims process. Has anyone had something like this happen before? Is there anything else I should be doing beyond what I’ve already done (call UPS, start claim, document everything, etc.)?

This is my first time dealing with something like this and it honestly sucks. Appreciate any advice or insight from people who’ve been through similar situations.

* Sorry for the long story I just don’t know what to do :(
