Separation Anxiety, Daycare Transitions

I’ve been blessed to have an 18 month mat leave with my little one. She’s now 15 months and will be starting full time daycare in a couple months.

We’ve always coslept and contact napped. I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve left her with someone other than my partner.

As is typical she developed significant separation anxiety around 8 months and it’s still very present. She’s slow to warm and avoids interacting with adults.

Last week I left her with a babysitting service at a local gym for an hour. Ever since she’s been extra clingy. We’ve also gone to a few local playgroups but now she panics if I step a few feet away.

Wondering if there’s anything I can do to help ease our upcoming major transition to daycare?

Do you think leaving her with a babysitting service more often will make it better or worse?

My son was similar and had a rough transition. Drop offs were challenging until he was 3ish.
