Could we consider that Seth from Superbad (2007) was just as disastrous, irresponsible, and a bad friend (at least toward Fogel/McLovin) as Ryan was in Jigsaw (2017)? I’m making myself clear below.
Superbad is one of my favorite comedies, but I hate that fat guy Seth with all my soul. He practically didn’t give a damn about his “relationship” with Fogel. Sure, the cops didn’t arrest him in the store scene, but Seth thought they did—and what does he do? “Screw Fogel, we need to get alcohol.” Letting your friend get arrested for something YOU pushed him to do is one of the most disgusting, repulsive, and cowardly things I’ve seen.
On the other hand, Ryan was an idiot. He blamed his best friend for the car crash (even though he was the one responsible) and never showed any sign of remorse about it. So… are they the same?
