Last names of children: Looking for stories and opinions!
Hi dads!
I'm a graduate journalist at Northwestern University working on a story about how couples decide what surname their children will carry, and why those decisions are so meaningful to parents.
I'd love to hear from dads about how that conversation went in your family. Did you give your child your last name? Your partner's? A hyphenate? Something entirely new? Whatever name you chose, I want to understand what went into that decision and why it mattered.
Alternatively, do you have strong feelings about nontraditional naming routes? Would you have been open to passing on your partner's name instead? Open changing your own last name? Whether you're for it or opposed, your insight would be invaluable.
You can DM me directly or get a conversation going in the comments. Thanks in advance for any and all help you can provide!
