Emirates diversion to Oman — anyone experienced this?
I’m traveling from the US to India in late July. I usually prefer Etihad, but after seeing a bunch of negative reviews about how they’ve handled reimbursements during this situation, I started looking into Emirates instead.
While checking flight history, I noticed that Emirates’ Chicago → Dubai (EK236) flights are generally working fine now, but I did come across a diversion case to Oman (May 4). I’m trying to understand what actually happens in those situations.
If you’ve been on one of these diverted flights or know someone who was and can share some insights, I would appreciate it. Specifically, I want to know:
How long were you stuck in Oman? How did Emirates handle the situation? Was there clear communication from the crew/ground staff while everything was being sorted out? Did they put you on a flight to Dubai first and then onward to India, or did they reroute you directly from Oman to India? Were hotel/meal accommodations provided?
If you would have anything else to share apart from what I asked, that would also be really helpful.
Thanks in advance!
