Hi everyone! I just scored a used Makita DDF459 with a battery for about 50 bucks. It’s arriving in a parcel locker tomorrow, and I’m already getting my workspace ready.

I know some might say it’s not worth opening up, but honestly, half the reason I bought it was just to take it apart and clean it! The other half is for some light use around the house.

According to the seller, it was used on a construction site, so I’m expecting it to be pretty filthy—dust, grime, and probably every kind of dirt imaginable. I don’t have my own photos yet, but I’ll definitely post some "before and after" shots once it arrives!

I really need your help and some "know-how." I’ve refurbished game consoles and coffee machines before, but I’m totally new to power tools. Please let me know what I should look out for and what to be careful with. Feel free to state even the most "obvious" things—I know from my other projects that it’s easy to miss the small stuff during a service!

I’ve already ordered some grease and I have precision screwdrivers, IPA, and degreaser ready to go. I’ve got the time and the motivation! Hehe. I’ll appreciate any advice you can give me. Cheers!
