headlight issue
hi there! i drive a 1998 chevy silverado with a v8 engine. she is my pride and joy. only 108k miles. i want to make her my daily driver because the cat i usually drive is starting to have some transmission issues. that’s not the problem i’m here about though
so last year i noticed the truck headlights were coming on automatically. in my 24 years of knowing this truck this had NEVER happened. it wasn’t the daylight running lights, it was the headlights themselves. i also noticed my headlights were burning out much quicker than usual. a couple months ago i took it to the mechanic, told them what was happening, they changed my headlights and sent me on my way. the very next day, the headlights were out again. i brought it back. they kept it for a month, during which they told me several times my truck was ready, i’d come take a look, notice it was still happening, and i’d tell them it wasn’t fixed. eventually the owner replaced a relay and told me it was fixed. i told him it was not, as the problem was still happening, and he told me it was the daylight running lights.. right.. but he did not charge me, so i just took my truck home because it occurred to me that this mechanic just was not going to fix it.
i’m taking it somewhere else. does anyone have any idea what it could be? i want to be able to go to a new mechanic and have some ideas of where they can look so i don’t have to leave my truck for a month again. i’m at my wit’s end. sorry this is so long and thanks in advance to anyone who answers!!
