Recovering as a single mum

Hi everyone, I’m a sole parent to two kids 4 and 6. No other parent but my 80 year old mum is nearby and I have some other family.

I’m having laparoscopic surgery to remove a 12cm fibroid and trying to plan for recovery, especially if I can’t drive for 2 weeks.

What are your practical tips to help me survive! And what can I expect?

has anyone had a fibroid of similar size in this location?

I have a strong history of IBS and have a 12cm subserosal in pouch of Douglas.
It could be the fibroid is making my symptoms worse. Just wondering what treatment you received

I have a strong history of IBS and have a 12cm subserosal in pouch of Douglas. All my reading suggests this is a risky place to operate due to proximity bowel , bladder etc. I’m so nervous about my bowel symptoms worsening as I already have done faecal incontinence, regular diarrhoea etc.

It could be the fibroid is making my symptoms worse.

has anyone had a fibroid of similar size in this location?

- what were surgery options
- how complex was it
- any other insights!
