I finally took the plunge and started my smart home journey with Philips Hue. I had a budget of around 500 and I’m pretty happy with what I managed to get for that price.

The Haul:

• Bridge: 1 Hue Bridge Pro.

• Controls: 1 Smart Button and 1 Dimmer Switch.

• Bulbs: 3 White & Color Ambiance, 4 White Ambiance, and 2 standard White bulbs (for low-traffic rooms).

I also bought a few new lamps to add more light points around the house and really put the system to the test.

I’m planning to run everything through the Apple ecosystem, since we are an iPhone household and I have an Apple TV to use as a Home Hub.

Any tips for a beginner?
