Can I migrate my old lights and accessories from old Philips hue to new one even if the old one isn’t working anymore?

From videos and information posted online it seems as if you can’t/wont be able to migrate lights and accessories from the old Philips hue bridge to the new pro if the old one is not on. My old one doesn’t work it stopped working. I bought a new power cable/adapter still doesn’t power on. Will I still be able to transfer/migrate my lights from my old one to the new one with the old one not working?

Installation options on light strips that aren’t the adhesive backing

Hey all.

I’d really love to have a light strip under my couch but the one with adhesive backing just wouldn’t stay there. I tried absolutely everything: Heavy duty tape, glue, hardware store adhesive strips etc. eventually it would start to peel off anyway. I know that at least some outdoor versions have an installation system that comes with screwable straps that the strip attaches to.

Anyone know if these can be bought separately or do any of the indoor ones come with them? Thanks in advance.

Man these lights are amazing

Originally I and Gemini to make me an artists impressing for the lights and it inspired me for what it could be so I took on the project. Did ask the cabling, choose light fittings and did the landscaping today. Just ordered to the an Essential pack (keen to see the difference between the normal spots) for the up lighting of the trees.

What's your honest opinion on this setup. My whole house is Hue and man is this technology amazing! Think of new ways to use it or to automate with it everyday.

House uplighting. Lily XL or another product?

We have a 2 floor brick colonial and want to add some uplights against the house like this. (Just a random image search).

Right now we have some random solar Costco spotlights that look ok but I want something nicer and more permanent. Our house is hue ecosystem in general so we thought the hue uplights may be ok.

I see a lot of mixed reviews on the Lily and Lily XL. I assume for my use I’ll want the XL, are they really good to hit a house with light? We’d probably do 3, 1 between each window more or less.

How is installing in general? I have an outlet box in front of the house, can a handyman easily pull power out of that?

If not is there another quality outdoor product that will let me do white temp and color? Not so worried about cost per se but don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on this

Migrating to Pro Hub(s)

I just ordered 2 pro hubs, they had a sale on a bundle with HUB GU-10 WCA and a switch for about $100 (in Sweden).

Does anyone have advice on how to migrate a house with three hue hubs to a new set up?

What is your experience with the Pro hub?

Need recommendation for Under Cabinet Lights

I only have a couple of Hue bulbs, and just getting started. Would like to have the Hue strips under my cabinets. Which item would be best for that, and what would I do about the microwave part? Would hardwired be available, or do they plug in? Thanks!

Hue light module replacement?

I have Hue lights with a Hue Bridge that I control through Alexa.

In my dining room I have LED can lights on a wall dimmer switch. I would like to put a wall module behind my dimmer that would allow me to control the cans with Alexa. Ideally I would like to use my Hue Bridge but I think Hue discontinued their module.

What module would be best for me? I'm looking at Shelly but which module?

Thanks

Hue & Canvas TV

While I don't have any Hue around the actual TV (it's supposed to be super flat like a painting), I have lights near that you can create or utilize Hue Scenes to pair with the art displayed on the TV. A really cool way to increase the ambiance in the room.

I have pictured here:

-E12 Candle Lights in the Lamp (3)

-Two Omniglow Lightstrips (inside the Sideboard & along the edge and sides behind it facing the wall)

Philips HUE Lightstrip, can it be hardwired?

Hello electricians.

I want to replace a light strip underneath my kitchen island with one of these Philips HUE omniglow strips. They come with a power adapter to be plugged into the mains however there isn't one near by and I'd like to switch it on and off from the mains light switch like my current one does.

The current strip is hardwired as you can see in the photo.

Philips of course don't recommend doing this but is it possible if I hire an electrican to do it?

Also, I'm in the UK if that makes a difference.

Many thanks for the responses in advance!

iPad iPhone MacOS soon with ability to transform into true spatial light show DJ console!

I’ve always wanted a proper spatial music visualiser for smart lights, but for the living room.

Not just “lights react to sound,” and not something locked to one ecosystem; I wanted an app where lights can be placed in a virtual layout of the room and then controlled in real time based on live music analysis and their actual physical position.

So I started building it a year ago, and now it's time to show it you guys for constructive judgment time.

The goal is for iPhone, iPad, and macOS (Apple Silicone only) to become a real spatial light show controller: effects moving across your room, mapped to where your lights are, with music driving how everything behaves, creating scenes with effects in different parts of the room, storing multiple room configs etc

I’ve put up a small site for it and wanted to share it here because I feel like this is the kind of thing some people in here might appreciate.

Would this be something you’d use?

New User with ?’s

I’ve searched the thread and I am still searching for an answer. I recently bought the Hue Festivia outdoor café string globe lights. In the Hue app I’m trying to create an automation that has the lights turn on at sunset with an effect. The effect I would like to use is either glitter or sparkle but when I go to add the effect in automations, all I get are basic settings like read wake up, relax, etc. Are automations not able to be personalized with effects? Thank you

HELP: Replaced dead bridge. Lights well over 10 yrs old, don’t have QR/Homekit codes. I re-added bulbs w/S# but can’t add strip lights & vaulted ceiling bulbs. What to do?

Got a new bridge to replace dead one. To add bulbs I could only add individually using serial #s – and I had to put each bulb into a lamp that’s close in proximity to the bridge.

But I have 2 strip lights stapled in place under kitchen cupboards. I can’t see a serial # on the plug going into the outlet. I tried adding all 6 digit numbers on the plug but no go. How to add these?

Also I have 8 lights in a really high vaulted ceiling, and definitely not near the bridge. How to add these?

Any suggestions? Thanks.

my setup got a massive upgrade

I’ve tried pretty much every app that syncs lights with music; iLightShow, Lights & Music, all of them. They’re great in their own way, and honestly they’re what got me into this space in the first place. But I always felt like something was… off.

Most apps treat your lights like a list. But in reality, your lights exist in a space.

Lights & Music got closest for me because you could sort of sequence effects between bulbs, which made it feel more “alive”. But I kept thinking that even though this is the best option it could be much much better.

I’m a software engineer, so about a year ago I started building something for myself, and it became my favourite smart lights app.

The idea was simple (at least in my head):

what if you could map your actual room, place your lights on it, and then run effects in that space instead of just triggering bulbs?

It kind of spiralled from there :)

Now it’s turned into this system where you can: map your room layout and position lights, layer multiple effects on top of each other, have those effects react to live music (not just beats, but energy, frequencies, etc.)

The goal is that it doesn’t feel like “lights reacting to music”, but more like the whole room does.

I’ve been working on it pretty much every evening for the past year. I wasn’t even sure if I’d ever show it to anyone, it was more of a personal “this should exist” kind of creation.

It runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac (I couldn’t decide so I just did all of them).

I’m still polishing it, but I’m at the point where I’m wondering if this is actually something other people would use, or if it’s just me being too deep into smart lights (I'm proud of my obsession)😅

Happy to share more or show it if anyone’s curious, just not sure if on top of a year of my time is it worth investing 100 dollars for App Store dev license.

oh and it supports more than Philips Hue. LIFX, WLED (!), and Nanoleaf panels as well

Philips Essentials Pleb Seeking Support Connecting Older Bloom Lamp

Can someone explain what I need to do to connect to this used Bloom lamp?

Thus far, I’ve only purchased Philips Hue Essential lightbulbs (“Philips Hue Essential Smart LED BR30 Bulb, White and Color Ambiance”), which I connected to, and control from, the Hue app on my iPhone. Although I’m very familiar with what a Bridge looks like, I know literally nothing else about them.

I got this used Bloom lamp (Philips Hue Bloom White/Color Table Lamp Accent Light Model 72997) on eBay and I’m stumped. The seller said it had been disconnected from his system. It didn’t come with a manual, doesn’t have a QR code, and it doesn’t pop up on the app through Bluetooth search. The lamp immediately turns on when I plug it in, and then just stays on until unplugged.

*Does this mean that I need to get a Bridge? If so, would this older Bloom work with only some versions/models/updated of a Bridge (I’ve seen different Bridge shapes so I assume they are not all the same ?)*

Hue lights on media wall

With the limited space we have behind and around our TV will hue lights work with our media wall?

Would love to invest in the hue light strips as they look so good but not sure if its suitable for our set up and if we would get the benefit of the lights with our layout.

Has anyone else used the lights with a similar set up?

Lost power and when power turned back on all the lights turned on. How do I stop that? Is there a way to have a memory state?

Is there a way for the lights to remember what state there in? It is 10pm and all the lights just went into ON mode. I would prefer if they remembered what state they were in.

I have home assistant but I'd prefer to do this natively.

Thanks.
