I’ve been living in the South for a while where eating with hands is completely normal pretty much everyone does it. But now that I’ve come to Gurgaon, I’ve noticed that hardly anyone eats with their hands, whether it’s in the office, mess, or restaurants. Almost everyone seems to be using spoons/forks.
The thing is, I’m really used to eating with my hands and honestly prefer it. Also, I have OCD, so using a shared spoon or even the idea of it makes me really uncomfortable.
I just wanted to understand is this a cultural difference, or is eating with hands considered unhygienic here? Should I try to change my habit? I do feel like the odd one out sometimes, but at the same time I’m okay with it unless it’s actually bothering/offending people lol.
Would love to hear what others think.
