Random full system freezes on 14600KF / MSI Z790-P WiFi DDR4
Hi everyone,
I'm honestly running out of ideas with my PC and would really appreciate some help troubleshooting this.
My specs:
Intel i5-14600KF
MSI Z790-P WiFi DDR4
32GB XPG DDR4 3200
RTX MSI 5070
GPU Butterfly 850W
Windows 10 22H2
Main issue:
My PC randomly freezes completely. No BSOD, no restart, no error screen — the whole system just hard freezes and becomes unresponsive. Mouse frozen, keyboard dead, audio stops. I have to force shutdown by holding the power button.
What I've already tried:
Updated BIOS to latest version
RAM test passed
Installed latest drivers
Temperatures seem normal
No obvious overheating
Freeze still happens even after Windows update
Things I noticed:
Sometimes it can freeze even during lighter usage
No clear pattern yet
Event Viewer hasn't shown anything obvious so far
Current BIOS-related things:
CPU Lite Load was originally on Mode 22
I was advised to try Mode 9/10
XMP may also be involved, planning to disable it for testing
Questions:
Has anyone experienced similar freezes with 14600KF + MSI Z790 boards?
Could this be related to Intel 14th gen instability / voltage behavior?
Is MSI CPU Lite Load known to cause hard freezes?
Could this still be RAM instability even if memory tests pass?
Any recommended BIOS settings for maximum stability on this combo?
At this point I'm trying to determine whether the problem is:
CPU instability
motherboard issue
PSU issue
RAM/XMP instability
or storage/driver related
Any help would seriously mean a lot. Thanks.
