Let my boy go after a year together.
Melvin was found at a CSA farm last summer and lived with me through the northern winter. He was a wonderful guest, full of energy and curiosity. After molting once over the cold months, he has grown to be a strong and healthy adult. I let him go yesterday in my back yard so he can try his luck at finding a mate this summer. I'll always cherish my "good morning Melvin" moments and the joy he brought me when I'd feed him and we'd stare at each other as he'd suck the life out of his meal. What a wonderful little friend you've been, Melvin.
