AITA, My girlfriend F18 chose to wear a thong instead of a bikini in my M17 friend’s hot tub. Is it silly of me for thinking this is unacceptable?
Recently, me and my friends including my girlfriend and her friends are celebrating the end of school so are going out locally. We end up at A’s house (for this story I will name people using letters for privacy) where we all talk and socialise, I F17 don’t drink which is just a personal choice and doesn’t mean much in this story, while everybody else in this story does. Anyway at A’s house another friend, H, decides we will go to his house afterwards to end the night. H’s house has a hot-tub so we’re all excited as expected. Anyway, as it is A’s house she responsibly offers bikinis to the 4 girls (including my girlfriend) who are with us at the time for H’s hot-tub.
Fast forward to H’s house, and me and H decide we’ll be the first to get in the hot-tub, so we set it all up and prepare to get in. We both go to get changed, while I get my girlfriend so that she can come in with me. She says to me that she is going to go in her pants and a top and I’m confused thinking that she has A’s bikini to use so I ask her what her reason is for not using the bikini and she says it’s because it won’t fit, which doesn’t make much sense as all the girls end up wearing A’s spare bikinis with no problem. So while I’m practically begging my girlfriend to wear the bikini and not the thong I knew she had on, she starts taking her skirt and leggings off until she’s only got her thong on.
I’m extremely upset by this as there are upward of 10 of my male friends at this party and I as expected don’t want my girlfriend in her thong being shown. As I’m asking her to put her clothes back on and go inside to change and wear the bikini (which she argued back to me and said to me that I can’t live my life like this and I’m being ridiculous), one of my male friends walks by (just arriving to the party) and I can see somebody (which was my friend but I didn’t know at the time) walking towards us, so I’m telling my girlfriend to turn around so he doesn’t see her in her thong. Anyways she didn’t understand in time and he walks past and I could tell by looking at him that he knows what he just saw. Then after I’ve realised he’s seen what I didn’t want him to, my girlfriend tries to hide herself with her jumper, I was trying to keep my cool after this and she told me she’d go inside and wear the bikini.
To finish it off, she went inside and changed with her friends into A’s spare bikinis and then that was the end of that.
So my question is just should I be as upset as I am about this or am I just being stupid? Because I know my girlfriend has been like this sometimes and believes that life’s too short to be too ‘boring’, but I also know how amazing she is for me and that we love each other. So please don’t hesitate to give me any advice!
